Daijiro Hama (1984) grew up in Shimane, Japan, and makes use of traditional Japanese materials and techniques. His practice is shaped by cultural experiences from both his magical homeland and living abroad, exploring insights into human existence. Through contrast in black and white, Daijiro seeks to express the invisible. His monochromatic compositions invite viewers to look beyond what is seen and into what remains unseen – reflecting the depths of the soul and mind.

Universes collide, explode and continuously evolve into more chaos, yet a beautiful harmony nonetheless. What appears static can begin to move, what is held inside, can break free. Everything emerges from nothing. Life as a moving canvas – each line drawn both gives and takes.
